Sherlock Holmes and the Sport of Kings
It is a story talking about a famous racehorse which disappeared and someone killed his trainer, when Sherlock and Walton started to break the case.
The famous racehorse, Silver Blaze, was already a winner in many big races. So many people put big bets on him to win. The criminal put big bets on different horses which could make much money when Silver Blaze was lame or dead. After a long time, through Sherlock Holmes’s survey, the criminal was the dead person, John Straker. He wanted to make more money for his woman. He went to the stable and took the horse down the hill. Then, he used a knife that you could cut very small thing to cut the tendon of Silver Blaze. However, when John Straker did it, the horse kicked out his head and he died. The horse ran to another stable near the original one and the stable owner looked after the horse taken to join the Wessex Cup.
It was a very interesting story. When I read the story I assumed that the criminal was the man, Fitzroy Simpson, because he also went to the stable at the night when the horse disappeared. However, I could not believe the criminal was the horse’s trainer. It was out of my expectation.
