The Coldest Place On Earth

This story is about two teams competing for the first place to get to the South Pole.

In this story, two teams all wanted to get a first place to get to the South Pole. One were Englishmen, and the other was the Norwegians. The Englishmen’s Captain, called Robert Falcon Scott, brought sixteen men, the new motor sledges and some ponies to go to the South Pole. The Norwegians’ Captain called Roald Amundsen brought ninety-nine dogs and some men to go to the South Pole. At first Roald Amundsen was too urgent to go to the South Pole, so he failed. But because of this failure, making him think twice, when he made the decision,  he won the first place in this race. In contrast to Amundsen, Scott thought that bringing many dogs to go to the South Pole was a stupid decision, so he brought the ponies to go to the South Pole, but the ponies were slow and weak. Many ponies were dead when they went to the South Pole. Besides, Scott was to lazy and stubborn to learn skiing and listen to others’ suggestion, so he lost this race and died in the south at the end.

This story was excited and a little sad. Scott was too stubborn to listen to other people’s suggestion. I think I won’t be this kind of man, and I think Amundsen was a respectable man, because the failure didn’t break his dream, but made him stronger to reach his goal. It was very amazing.
