The Picture of the Year 2000
The story was so amazing that I couldn’t believe what I had read. The beginning of the story described Guldiken and his mother who lived in the city. But in the end, the conclusion was global warming! The writer used the word to make the audience fall into the situation, and the story was very interesting.
Guldiken and his mother were living in the city. One day the school had the students give the teacher gifts. Guldiken discussed with her mom what kind of gifts they would give to the teacher. Guldiken used his pocket money to buy a present to the teacher. He bought a piece of parchment which wrote the things about mountains. However, the teacher didn’t comprehend what Guldiken wanted to say. He wanted to share the things that city people never knew, but to city people, only flowers or books were gifts. Later, the teacher gave the students homework to draw the future in 2000. Guldiken’s classmate drew cars, videos, computer, and so on. Guldiken just drew a big, hot, bright sun in the middle of the paper.
It was really an interesting story. The child predicted the global warming in the future. I thought many readers and me had the same feeling after reading the story. What a surprise! Why did the story tell us global warming in the end? It was hard to describe this feeling.
